CURRENT PRACTICE

Judi transferred to the Bar in November 2015 as a qualified Solicitor with 20 years PQE working in both the private and public sectors. As a barrister, She represents clients on a regular basis at inquests and in the Crown Court, County Court, High Court and the Court of Appeal on extradition matters, judicial reviews, civil trials, case management hearings, bail applications, pleas in mitigation, sentencing and interim family care proceedings. Her knowledge and expertise includes public law, coronial law, civil and criminal litigation, proceeds of crime, commercial litigation, mental health and prison law.

Judi is currently junior counsel representing 10 families at the Birmingham Pub Bombings Inquest.

PAST ROLES

Prior to transferring to the Bar, Judi  was seconded to the MoD as a Senior Advisory Lawyer. I led on Article 2 Inquests (including Deepcut), judicial review, information law, PII, disclosure issues in public inquiries and inquests in England & Wales and Northern Ireland and Serious Fraud office investigations. I represented the MoD at the Northern Ireland Office Legacy Liaison Committee Meetings, COBRA on SFO related matters and at the cross-Whitehall ADR Group dealing with historical cases in Northern Ireland, such as the Stalker Sampson Inquest, the Iraq Inquiry and prosecutions arising out of the Bloody Sunday Inquiry.

Between 2006 and June 2014, I was the Solicitor to two major independent public inquires in Belfast and London, the Robert Hamill and the Azelle Rodney Inquiries and the Inquest touching the death of Mark Duggan.
