Members of the specialist Family Team at Church Court Chambers practise in all areas of family law and are widely recognised for their skill, commitment and professionalism. In public law children proceedings, our Members act for parents, children, guardians, CAFCASS, the Official Solicitor and Local Authorities at every level, including the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.   Members of the Family Team are often instructed on the basis of their cutting edge expertise in relation to non-accidental injuries and sudden infant death syndrome, and they continue to lecture and publish in this area.   Our Members also undertake Court of Protection cases on a regular basis.

Our practitioners adopt a realistic and effective approach to private law children cases, and as a consequence, parents benefit from early advice, which often assists in obtaining an effective and satisfactory resolution of proceedings. As a consequence, our Members are widely sought after in cases of “implacable hostility”, surrogacy and assisted conception. Chambers enjoys an expanding practice in international private law disputes and receives instructions in applications for leave to remove, inherent jurisdiction proceedings and international child abduction. Chambers continues to develop its practice in relation to applications for Forced Marriage Prevention Orders; and the dual criminal and family law expertise of a number of Members of the Family Team is often relied upon by instructing solicitors.

Our Members are instructed all levels of financial remedy proceedings, including disputes relating to trusts involving high net worth individuals, offshore assets, diverse tax structures and pre nuptial agreements. We are valued for our commitment and pragmatism, and as part of a comprehensive service our Members regularly accept last minute instructions for ex parte injunctions, freezing and search orders.

A number of our Members are qualified to undertake cases on a Public Access basis.
